This is the best screenshot and productivity tool i have ever used. I need this tool on linux badly, this tool gave me an addiction to it and cant live without it.

Please help

+1 for this... so sure it's a duplicate... but also 2022

KennethHoff commented 2 years ago

The loss of ShareX is honestly the biggest one I've felt since I swapped over from Windows to Linux back in September.

There are other similar software, like Flameshot, but it's nowhere as good

+1 Any way to fund this? ,,,sorry, shameful RTFM case here. Just put "check gitcoin" on my #TODO list though :-P

PS: ...also I'm no bot, I just happen to be playing around pseudonyms

I added a GitCoin bounty for this issue. I feel like 8 hours may be an underestimation though - this will be a lot of work!

(Shadydark, if you see this, I'm sorry I rejected your application to work on the issue - the work plan/summary you gave just did not seem related to this at all, so it didn't give me much confidence that you were going to make an honest attempt at getting it running on Linux. Please re-apply if you think I misunderstood!)

I'll try to get it running in mono, do you have a preferred package format (deb, rpm, flatpack)?

(Bumping this issue) The current issue with existing screenshot utilities on Linux space for me is the auto selection of the window and the elements inside it (Region Capture), as the current only do window selection

Well, always has been. But using sharex via wine is meh.

No, only major downside is multi-monitor support (i think). Have you ever tried ShareX via Wine? If you tried this a long time ago I recommend you trying again following the guide (#6531).

I don't know if you had bad experiences with Wine generally but you should give a try if you're still using Linux. And if you try can you comment your experiences and system info to #6531? I'll add that to tested environments.

Multi-monitor support and lack of support for Wayland are two fundamental issues that makes it unusable for many people
