Can't screenshot netflix, I want to understand how that's possible. #7353

It completely blows my mind and disgusts me that I can't take an innocent screenshot for social media comment or meme construction.

I want to know how it's possible for a media player to do this, and hopefully what I can do to roll back this totalitarian nonsense.

This type of thing has made me furious since the 90s. It just punishes normal users and radicalizes them. Lars did more for music piracy than napster could have dreamt.

Actual media sharing pirates are not stopped by this obviously, but regular users can't make reviews or commentary with a visual aid. That's unacceptable. I'm asking here because sharex is by far the best capture tool I've ever used.

I need to know my enemy.

And in fact I did, but it's complete nonsense to have to do that. Why is everyone so obedient?

  1. Open Chrome
  2. Settings > System > "Use graphics acceleration when available" : Turn OFF
  3. Relaunch Chrome
  4. Take a screenshot

Thank you Arthur for trying, I disabled gpu in firefox but it still doesn't work I assume because I have to enable drm. For some reason chromium won't log in at all, despite confirmation in another tab that the password is correct it tells me the password is incorrect. I am floored by these shenanigans. What do they think they are accomplishing? It's not slowing down piracy at all, it's just harassing paying customers. And it's costing them free advertising. I love screenshotting stuff and commenting on it. Like with body problem, I couldn't talk about it meaningfully online at all because of this. That only hurts them. Idiots. Do they not want buzz and hype around their projects?
