I too had the exact same problem from the past few days. Mentioning port solved my issue. smbmap -H [IP Address] -p 445

Weird, I haven't encountered this issue with the port. You can disable the progress notifications using --no-update. Take the latest version for a test drive and let me know if you still have issues with the port arg. Thanks for reporting.
