We just looked into psi. Apparently, on 1.16 it was a full rewrite (ofc, cuz all the mods were rewritten for 1.16), and Vazkii "balanced" the mod in several ways. They're listed in one of the changelogs for the mod. Since there are no appropriate configs options for them, the only way for us to scale the mod, would be with mixins in an addon mod. That would be too much work for us at the moment.
Modpack Version
25
Problem description
I feel like PSI is a decently cool magic mod that unfortunately does not seem to see a lot of love in this pack in it's current form. A large part of this is due to the fact that the cost and drain of psi spells seem to be greater than they typically are and are likely manipulated for the purpose of challenge mod, something I'm totally okay with.
Suggested solution
Option 1. Allow Psi warrior armor to be utilized in much the same way that botania and ars armors are, giving greater ability and efficiency when wearing the full set. This could even get locked behind age 3 instead of 2 if the possibilities of spells here is seen as too great.
Option 2. Perhaps in tandem with option 1, give another level of psi components, perhaps utilizing elementium or alfsteel even to allow for spells to be cast at a more efficient rate or with a larger psi pool.
Option 3. Provide enchantments much like the holding enchant or the mana regen enchants for the psi rods.
Alternatives considered
Alternative to this would seem to be going in and manipulating the config files to make the overall game easier. Not a great option
Additional context
I am simply interested in seeing Psi be able to get a little bit more use. I think it's a very interesting rod and when having players go through the trouble of getting ebony and ivory only to discover it's not anywhere near the same level as botania, ars or any RF powered stuff, it is a little bit of a let down. This would give (potentially) additional longevity and reason to get ebony and ivory as well as allowing for another path for players to explore as they advance into the later stages of the game.
I understand that there is some development that would need to go into making any of these options really possible but it would be something super awesome to see in this pack, or at least in the 1.19 if Psi is planned to be in there.
