Some ideas:

Measure mutation frequency of MutaT7 test cassette, and whether it changes significantly on introduction of dCas9 + gRNA(nfi, ung), compared to dCas9 + no/untargeted gRNA
If this doesn't result in more resistant colonies, generate nfi/ung knockout mutants using SXT recombineering
