Project Wizard: Clarity of Share Origin #780

Closed ckurdziel closed 11 years ago

ckurdziel commented 11 years ago

Summary

Make it clear in the app what shares came from Shelby, and what came from the outside. Shares coming in from Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr should clearly be denoted as such. They're less important to our ecosystem and commenting on these shares serves no purpose (the sharer doesn't get a notification unless they also are a Shelby user) so we should remove the ability to comment on these shares if the user is not also a Shelby user.

Who is this for?

All Shelby users who are viewing any Shelby roll.

Why?

So we can reinforce the value of coming back to Shelby over continuing to go back to other sources (FB, Twitter) and help separate the value of the services.

Build

Design by @vincentiadevaia Implementation by @matyus and @iceberg901

How will this feature be marketed or get to the people who will use it?

Any Shelby user will see it as they use the app. It should clean up user experience and make them more likely to know what they're looking at.

Launch

No fanfare required, just build, test, deploy.

Copying @spinosa here for additional thoughts on implementation and review of this project wizard.

worth noting that allowing for interactions back to the original service (ie a FB Like of a video pulled from FB, or a twitter reply on a video pulled from twitter) would be nice in the long run but is not part of this project.

Reassigned to @matyus as he took this on. Michael is there anything else to be done here besides making sure the API always returns information on whether a user is faux?

Closing as this is live ATM - will monitor and reopen new items as they come up in the future.
