Plan of Attack For Launching FredWilson.TV

Launch date of Fredwilson.TV: Sunday 01/13

Timing:

• UI updates can be finished by @matyus Thursday 01/03
• Branch merged to staging by @matyus Thursday 01/03
• Smoke Test (isolated-roll/{roll_id} urls specifically) Friday AM 01/04
• Launch to Production server Monday PM 01/07
• "Internal" testing week of 01/07
• Fred needs to have access to his disqus forum (he will be added as a moderator to 'fredwilsontv' on disqus)
• Tab Needs to be added to AVC.com pointing to fredwilson.tv (coordinated by @reecepacheco )

What will be launched:

• new .TV welcome message shown as modal dialogue over video
• video currently wont autoplay (we can A/B test this) but subsequent videos will have continuous playback. playback begins once play button is clicked
• new "iso roll app" header (thats the name of the files in our codebase). this is the header that is unique to .TVs. new one redesigned by @vincentiadevaia (see image below)
• using special disqus forum for fred (and @reecepacheco)

This launch should include FreshPlay 1) b/c it's ready to go (just needs final UI polish) and 2) to minimize the confusion that adding it later could cause.

I will be merging FP to staging today or monday, so all of above schedule (including QA & launch) will include FP.

FredWilson.tv should not include FreshPlay (Fred specifically didn't want it), unless/until I convince him otherwise.

Fine, i'll specifically build something to disable FP on his roll and his roll only.

per IRL convo w/ reece: I am going to merge as planned, and we will launch fw.tv including FreshPlay

1. FreshPlay is a better way to play back .tv networks, so they should all use it. (if it's not better, none of them should use it - TBD)
2. Reece can ask forgiveness if Fred notices and strongly objects. At which time I would make FreshPlay optional per roll and deactivate for him only

@spinosa whats the status of freshplay / this .TV update? has the staging branch been smoke tested with these features/updates?

staging needed bug fixes as of Friday.

@matyus is finishing bug fixes on staging then alerting us + @bcoffey who will qa staging

Most of these updates are now in production.

We are now in a period of "Internal" testing.

We should visit .TV's (logged in and out) to make sure that all copy / messaging / changes make sense. Maybe get a few fresh eyes on a .TV to verify that it is understood where you are when you land on a .TV.
