Thanks!

Comment 33: Thank you so much!! I know very, very little about computers, and
so all I can do is type stuff into Terminal. Two strings entered, and BANG
Soundflower is up and running.

I used to use 1.2 sound flower on a macbook pro 2011 10.6 and it works but when
I restart or restart finder I get sound flower as default audio output, then I
upgrade to sunflower 1.6 an get this annoying message "soundflower is not
installed"

Did everything and got this :(
/System/Library/Extensions/Soundflower.kext failed to load - (libkern/kext)
kext (kmod) start/stop routine failed; check the system/kernel logs for errors
or try kextutil(8).
Any idea?

I recently exchanged emails with the creator of the Soundflower application,
Timothy Place and he helped resolve the issue for me. I too was seeing the
message "Soundflower is not installed" running OS X 10.8, Soundflower version
1.6.5, however, these steps that Tim suggested fixed the issue.
1. Run the Soundflower Uninstall script (in /Applications/Soundflower) and then
try to re-install. You will need to be an admin on the computer you're using.
2. Reboot the computer after installing since extensions are loaded at reboot.
3. After all of that, if it still isn't working, you could try running this
command in the terminal app:
sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/Soundflower.kext
This will try to load Soundflower and if it doesn't, the terminal app may list
why. I never actually had to enter the command prompt line since noticed
Soundflower was now functioning properly after a reboot and then launching the
application.

Cant get it to work. Still says "Soundflower not installed"

Tried the terminal and got " failed to load - (libkern/kext) kext (kmod)
start/stop routine failed; check the system/kernel logs for errors or try
kextutil(8)."

My problem is that I can't get it to uninstall now - message I get is "sudo:
/private/etc/sudoers is mode 0644, should be 0440
sudo: no valid sudoers sources found, quitting"
I'm afraid I don't understand what this means! But afterwards any attempt to
install simply fails. Anyone any clues? It's driving me mad - I used to have a
perfectly good working copy of sound flower but this update has simply left me
soundflowerless. I think I've reed all the suggestions in this thread but
without success.
Help!

Yes, I can also confirm that
1) changing permissions for /System/Library/Extensions/Soundflower.kext (under
Get Info)
2) run Terminal
3) type sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/Soundflower.kext
4) relaunch Soundflowerbed
worked for me. Thanks!

Running Mac Yosemite 10.10.4
I closed soundflowerbed first
Run "sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/Soundflower.kext" in the terminal
(Without Quotation marks)
it will ask for your password, type your password, Then click enter and it
should work from then on
NOTE: it wont have a notice/message popping up saying "It worked" or something,
you just have to open soundflowerbed and it should work.

I tried all of the above, none work for me on 2012 13" MacBook Pro. I'm
beginning to think it may be a hardware issue, nothing to do with Yosemite. I
have a 2009 aluminum MacBook running Yosemite, Soundflower works fine on it.
