After take a look to some old Alienware laptop schematic, I would say that the caldera connector is just a proprietary connector with a PCIE 4X repeater connected to it, so I don't understand why you are having any trouble with the RTX 30xx.
If you don't mind it would be really helpful if you could take some hight res pictures to the AGA PCBs to have a better understanding about what is going on on the hardware side...
