I've been working on this, and have a couple of drafts to share:
@carysmills and @asmockler I would love to get your feedback about these early ideas 😄
I like them! Your question about font is still an unknown to me. I think I prefer the first one, because it's a little more abstract, but also more recognizable when used without the text at the smaller size. We should also loop in Miru when you're ready!
I think I prefer the bars, even though I want to prefer the sparkline haha. Let's definitely get Miru's input.
Also, if that is still Circular, we might want to consider something like DM Sans, which is similar to Circular but available on Google Fonts. Or Shopify Sans.

Shopify Sans |
Good callout with the fonts @asmockler. I think using Shopify Sans makes the most sense (and I think it looks a bit nicer than DM sans). Here are what the logos look like with Shopify Sans:
I really like the bars. I think it resonates more on its own without the text and would stand out as a "brand". IMO the alignment of the text and the bars feels strange, I am no designer, but have you tried the bars with the text bottom aligned with the bottom of the bar?
I talked to creative direction, and I have a few considerations:
Brands act like buckets. They collect meaning over time. If we make a lot of little buckets, none of them will become very memorable or powerful. That’s why it’s “Shopify capital”, “Shopify shipping”, “Shopify payments”.
— Let’s separate what we have internally to drive excitement and adoption vs. what we show externally. — Internally, we have a lot of freedom to create whatever we want. The little bars are perfect as an emoji, for example. — Polaris viz is a Polaris sub-brand, so externally it should be aligned with them. Currently, they don’t have anything close to a defined logo. It’s coming in the future. So we can go back to it when the time comes. — For the things external facing like the read me, let’s be more neutral and not attach a symbol to it, something like:
(as an example)
Internally, theres no problem of us using the symbol along with the name. I played around with Trevor's logo and adjusted the font size and alignment. Let me know your thoughts.
Can this be closed @thetrevorharmon?
Yep, I think we are good for it for now
We need a logo for Polaris Viz. The logo should utilize similar colors that exist in Polaris Viz, and have a strong symbol that will work even at very small sizes (like a slack emoji).
