@holic It should essentially do this already. We also supplement the genre list with the most popular genres so that when you create a playlist for songs NOT in your library already, you can still use the genre picker.
For instance, say you don't have any "jazz" in your library but you wanted to create a Jazz playlist of the top jazz tunes. You wouldn't be able to do that if we only looked at the genres currently in your library.
Oh totally makes sense! I should have provided more context. I am creating a playlist from things not already in my library, so it seems I have a picker for just about any genre.
What I'm trying to do is create playlists of 1) genres I already listen to and 2) with songs not already in my library. The idea is that this will help me with music discovery.
Genres tend to be so specific and overlapping that it's hard to make sure I've got complete coverage when picking ones from the genre picker. If the picker was next to a list of suggested genres based on the genres seen in my existing playlists/library, then it'd be easier to make sure I didn't miss any genres when picking from the list.
Does that make sense? If not, happy to provide more concrete examples.
I've got a bunch of playlists already in my Spotify. Is it possible to scan those for common genres, then offer those as quick selections next to the genre picker?
