Dear Victor, what version of PIVlab are you using?
Hi William,
I am using Pivlab 2.63. Furthermore, I connected the setup to a USB hub to extend the USB 3.0 cable for safety reasons. I don’t know if this would have and effect on the connection.
Kind regards,
Victor de Bar

Using a hub is most likely a potettial cause of error: The camera needs all the bandwidth of the USB 3.0 hardware, and therefore it should be connected directly to a physical port. Is the camera disconnecting or the synchronizer / dongle or both?
I did not know that this USB hub would create a problem. Both the camera and synchronizer gets disconnected after a measurement.
Then I think the Hub is the issue. Could you please try without hub? Hubs exist in many qualities, and there might be some that work. But the safest approach would be to not use a hub.
I have not tried it without the hub. What I found is that when I take some time before clicking any button in PIVlab the connection holds. Very strange...
Could you test it anyway please? If the reason is the hub, then the behavior would make sense: You are less likely overloading the USB connection when you wait a bit.
Yes I will try the system without the USB hub next time I am going to do measurements. Thank you for the fast response.
Ps: Overall I like the system it is easy to learn and straight forward. I have performed flow measurements that have led to crucial mechanical design input for a module that we are developing!

Ok, this would be great. Also good to hear that you like the system. And don't forget: If there are things that you are missing e.g. in the software or something is not working as expected, then please tell us. We are continuously improving the system, and we are always happy if we get additional input from our customers!
At the top of my mind I have two things.
For use it would be useful to move folders to a central computer hub and open a session. Now I have to compute the whole analyses again when moving a folder.
If I encounter other issues or inconveniences I will let you know.

Hi Victor, thanks for the input, I added two issues here in GitHub and will work on this soon. I am currently working on an update that enhances the graphical output of PIVlab, using transparency etc.
Great to hear!

Hi All,
Every time I perform a PIV measurement the PIVlab program disconnects form the hardware after the measurement. After disconnecting I need to set my camera to the correct aperture and focusing position. I am fed up by this way of working does anyone have a solution to this problem?
Kind regards,
Victor de Bar
