If they come from the weapon, the character is stuck with that weapon the whole game. Pros: One set of animations for attacking

Cons: This is frowned upon these days by gamers

If they come from us: Pros: This opens up for many routes of weapons and armor - total freedom Cons: Plot cant remove that power from them without an 'oh of course these handcuffs seal my power!' type deal

Power comes from within seems to be the winning philosophy here. Alright it can come from within, but does it need to be akin to a sorcerous origin? I think not
