It would be nice to be able to use AdmixSim2 to model complex admixture scenarios for fungi. However, there are several important functionalities that would need to be implemented to do so.
Specific capabilities that should be needed include:
Functioning in haploid mode.
Ability to specify single individuals as the starting “populations.”
Ability to allow all individuals in starting populations to be a single sex (i.e. clonally reproducing until admixture happens)
Ability to generate 100s of recombinant meiotic progeny following a single fertilization event
Ability to specify asexual generations between mating (admixture) events
Unfortunately, without such models it is not possible to model fungal admixture events very accurately.
