SSL connection timed out error code

What did you do?
1.Connected to a MUSH via SSL.
2.Used MUSH for a few minutes minutes.
3.Connection seemed to have idled out within a few minutes, no longer responded 
to commands, about 5~10 minutes later finally gave message: "error: Read error: 
ssl=0x76a49898: I/O error during system call, Connection timed out"

What did you expect would happen?
Program to maintain connection to the server.

What actually happened instead?
Connection was lost after short idle, without notification for 5~10 minutes.

Please provide any additional information you think might be useful below.

Similar timeframes seem to be happening without SSL: "> error: recvfrom failed: 
ETIMEDOUT (Connection timed out)".  Even with screen kept awake.

I've been getting similar timeframes as the previos post, and I have a Kindle 
Fire HD. error: recvfrom faild: ETIMEDOOUT (Connection timed out)> Resolving 
(insert world name and IP here).
