Epic 4G Touch - Tethering Connects, but no devices can see the network #1383

Which device (manufacturer, type)? Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Which firmware is installed?
Android 2.3.6 
Baseband S:D710.10 S.EKO2 
Kernel 2.6.35.7-SPH-D710.EK02-CL704398

What version of wireless tether are you using?
v3.1 Beta 11

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Running the App
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
The app starts and says it's connected, but no device I have (Sony VAIO Laptop, 
Transformer Prime Tablet) can find the network.

Please provide any additional information below.
I know a thread similar to this that was started about a week ago, but there 
was nothing in there that helped me out.

make sure you set ad-hoc network. it tries to do an infra network, and it will 
not broadcast the ssid.
