I have the exact same problem:
Which device (manufacturer, type)? Samsung Galaxy Note 2
Which firmware is installed? SPH-L900, JRO03C.L900VPALJ1
What version of wireless tether are you using? 3.2 beta 2
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start wifi tether
2. Read Error
3. View Log files
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Please provide any additional information below.
Sprint is my carrier. WiFi Tether loads with no problems. Once I click on
"Start Tethering" it goes through its process, but then at the end it says
"Starting tethering with errors! Please check the show log."
The log shows the following:
Loading wifi driver: DONE
Activating WiFi interface: failed
Starting ad-hoc mode: failed
Setting essid: failed
Setting channel: failed
Enabling NAT rules: Done
Enabling IP forwarding: DONE
Tethering now running: DONE

i figured it out and got it working i installed titanium backup and from that
app i went in and backed up the program called tether provision and then
uninstalled the tether provision. (i backed it up just in case it didn't work)
i then used the tether switch program from Google play called fattin and boom
it worked.
hope this helps.
i would definitely backup the tether provision thing prior to uninstall just in
case. you can easily backup from that same app titanium backup. the button is
right next to the uninstall button.

I don't see Tether Provision on my Sprint Note 2 in Titanium Backup. Which
carrier are you on?

Tmobile phone but I'm on solaviemobile.com service I had a few sprint people
thank me so far so it has to be there. Perhaps out of place.
On mine it was pretty far down the scroll.
i hope you get it as it truly makes the phone that much better.

Well all the services are in alphabetical order and I scrolled through the
entire list. Maybe these specific sprint users have the international version
of the phone? Can any other sprint users confirm that Tether Provision is not
there?

I'm on sprint and tether provision is not in the list anywhere, alphabetical or
otherwise.

maybe your right i know carriers are trying to crack down on wifi tethering. it
is most likely renamed something else. off to Google i go.

As for the Sprint guys with the issue still. I simply don't know guys. I know
it may be tedious but if i had the sprint version i would give it a shot and
any service that had the word tether in it i would first BACKUP and then trial
and error uninstall as it has to be one of these services that is blocking.
Just remember to restore if it does not fix as that process controls something
else. Food for thought. Or just wait until pdanet foxfi or wifi tether find a
workaround in the coming days. perhaps an email in their directions would
encourage their haste in the matter.

For those of you who are up and running i recommend you get a vpn or an agent
faker so they don't see a pc running on their tether and simply block you. I
know ATT is on the prowl for blocks. GL all

I tried multiple version of the Wifi tether app as well as others on my Sprint
note. ButI had no luck with support for my Sprint Note 2 (using stock rooted
rom with 1st OTA update applied. Then I came across this youtube video:
http://youtu.be/JGWqLRNoJLg provided by http://www.qbking77.com.
There are notes below the video as well as instructions. There is also a link
to a modified version of Wifi Tether. You are instructed to install busybox
(run the normal not advanced installation) and then launch the wifi tether. It
worked for me. I've attached the Wifi Apk and busy box is available free in
the store.

For those of you who are with Sprint such as myself. There are 2 programs to
uninstall with Titaniun Backup and they are call Wi-Fi Direct 1.0 and Wi-Fi
Direct Share 1.0. I just did it to my Galaxy Note 2 and it now work great. I
also used TrevE_Mod above too because Wi-Fi Teather for the play store doesn't
work either. Now this is only for those of you that are with Sprint. I have
the Note 2 Model SPH-L900. I hope this helps

For Sprint Galaxy Note II (SPH-L900, re-rooted after latest OTA update),
comment 16 (above) worked for me just now without removing the two Wi-Fi apps.
However, I _did_ have to tell my GN2 to "forget" about the details of the
connection to my local WiFi.

Does anyone have the mod to enable the transparent multi-window and the mod to
add multiple apps to that window for the note 2 on Sprint. model SPH-L900

Mine tether runs fine for a little while, then shuts down and I get a message
saying WTF my phone took back over control. How do I get it to stay in until I
want it to stop?
Also the phone keeps turning on the WiFi. How do I tell the phone to stop
turning that in by itself. I turn it off and it comes back on in a bit.

I was having the same issue as thomas, but I had a thought. The note 2 has this
"Sprint Connections Optimizer" I unticked it in the settings, and so far, it's
been going fine. I think the "Connection Optimizer" is a piece of spyware that
sprint uses to spy on the users and keep them from tethering
