SGS4 no tethering, logs not writing

Which device (manufacturer, type)?
Samsung Galaxy S4

Which firmware is installed?
4.2.2 (Stock, rooted via Odin)

What version of wireless tether are you using?
tried the 4 latest ones

I can't get it to work on my Phone.
After starting I get the message "Tethering started with errors. please check 
logs", and the logs aren't accessible ("unable to open log-file: file does not 
exist")
Can't find the wifi on other devices then :(

Same issue on Verizon i535 after OTA update to Android 4.3 and rooted.  

I got Fox Fi working on Android 4.3 after setting a security lock pattern (or 
password).  THat was needed to set a certificate based upon the new 
restrictions introduced in 4.3.

Worked fine on Android 4.1.2.
