wifi activates with errors and different encryption #1933

Which device (manufacturer, type)? LG optimus f3

Which firmware is installed? 4.2.1

What version of wireless tether are you using? 3.3-beta2

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. turning on wifi tether
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead? expect to see android 
tether with Wep encryption instead I see LG-LS720_F81 with WPA2 encryption   

Please provide any additional information below.
setting ad hoc mode failed, setting essid failed, setting channel failed. 
nothing matches, passwords do not work. turning off encryption has no effect.
