In light of the recent development, could this feature be re-evaluated...?

WEP is the functional equivalent of unsecured wireless. Proper and functional
security (wpa2-aes)
should be included as an option to the benefit of modern computer users and not
avoided to their
detriment so that users of barely functional OSes (windows) have full
compatibility.

This is a bugtracker, not a forum, and there's no point to "bump" an issue,
except to
annoy people who've starred this issue because the system will, by default,
automatically send an email to everyone who've "starred" the issue. I've
personally
"un-starred" some issues because people just kept chiming in with useless posts
saying that they want this or that or whatever.

If you want this issue get more attention, "star" (i.e. vote) the issue by
clicking
the star.

Although with the release of 2.2, which includes native tethering support, I
suppose
this program as a whole will get less attention.

Cheers.

Turns out the Froyo hotspot only works with certain chips. It, for once,
doesn't work with G1/Dream's Wifi module.

Look forward to WPA/WPA2 support.

WPA/WPA2-aes is really a requirement for any tethering app that wants to be
taken seriously. As j. simoda said, WEP is the "functional equivalent of an
unsecured wireless network" - go to starbucks or an airport with a WEP
encrypted network, and it'll be hijacked within a few minutes.
