Use the search before submitting stuff. And READ THE BLOG POSTS.

I did do the search and went through the anderweb blog as well. What I didn't
realize what that instead of having the Desktop Screens menu option, now I can
visually add/remove/reorder panels via Menu->Edit. So there is no need for that
option. Sorry for not realizing this earlier.

Sorry I have to chime in hear but this change in behavior is most definitely
not easy to find even if you search the wiki or BLOG.
If you search the wiki or the blog, or any open issues for either the old
setting "Desktop Screens" or the phrase "Number of Screens" you find nothing
talking about how this behavior has changed or the new way to access the
setting. I had to extend my search to "all issues" which included closed
issues like this one in order to find the answer.
"use the search before submitting stuff" is a poor answer if actually using the
search doesn't give the info needed.

Would also like to add that after reading through the blog I found the part
where you introduce the screens editor:
"Kanging Samsung’s great launcher, i’ve developed this little tool to allow
you organize your desktop. You can add, remove an swap screens on a really easy
way!"
But nowhere does it even mention that the ability to choose the number of
screens is disappearing from settings where it always was before.

As you have probably noticed, this is a hacky project with a main hacky dev an
a lot of enthusiast contributors, but we're not google and our "documentation
process" is not professional.
After adding a POPUP screen shown with each app update and, even with that,
receiving almost 30 emails per day and the same market comments #, and the
issues here, I cannot stand up fighting every user not wanting to read the
little things I write.
So when I state to read the blog, I mean to read thee blog, not to search
"number of screens".
Don't want to sound rude, but I cannot write a wikipedia for free with each
update, I already write a lot... of code.

I'm definitely not meaning to rag on you, I probably would have not tried ADW
if not for it's inclusion in CM but I've really come to appreciate it and
appreciate the work you and the project's contributors have put in.
My point is that you really shouldn't be as harsh with people as your original
comment came across, acting like it should be obvious and easy to see for
anyone wondering what the changes are but really it's not. As I said even
after reading the blog I find nothing about removing or moving any settings
just talking about the new feature.
FTR I think that your documentation is very good, especially for a project of
this size, though there is always room for improvement, one suggestion to head
off such questions in the future might me a simple note in Section 2.3.2 of the
wiki talking about how the "Desktop Screens" setting from older version has
been replaced by the Screen Editor.
Thanks again for your attention and thanks for ADW.

Also you were talking about a popup screen that was added I suspect many of
your users are like me and got their ADW via CM so would not have seen such a
screen :)

I know what you mean, and you're "partially right", but being harsh is part of
my human being ;)
Also, have you seen any detailed documentation about latest added cm features?
Opensource and free projects usually lack that kind of "customer sport",
because we expect the community providing it... And how many individuals have
you seen replying other people issues, helping them, providing patches,
documentation, whatever?
Not near a 1%....
I'm a long time unemployed guy with no enough earnings to even pay the rent and
just try to enjoy coding and learning.
But if I must spend 8h a day writing documentation for people who don't know
how to "open" a launcher, writing support emails about "launcher disappearing",
about status bar disappearing... the fun is over really soon.
I have now at least 2 identified adw forks (livehome and zeam), and 0
contributions back.
You know, I appreciate the help provided by a few community members, but don't
try to make me act like a "customer support" guy, I'm just a lazy coder.

The documentation for CM6 is pretty bad, most of the CM wiki is focused on CM5
your stuff is much better :) It's especially sad considering that the CM wiki
is community editable so pretty much anybody can just edit theirs.
Thanks for your time, keep up the good work and know that many of us do
appreciate it.

Yeah I just spent like 30 mins searching the web for info on how to do
this....so i am actually pretty freaking glad i found this thread. "Edit" lets
you change the number of desktop screens....its not under "ADWsetting".....huh.
...and also I agree that the "Use the search before submitting stuff. And READ
THE BLOG POSTS." is a very bad answer. Not only does it fail to actually
answer the question (that was worded very nicely and clearly), it's terse and
catty.

Hi guys,
Just to say to people still searching how to edit the desktops on ADW.
When on desktop view, press the "Menu" button of your phone and select "Modify"
I say that because even by reading all your comments I didn't find the trick :)

To the "lazy coder",
Fact: Your making an app for PEOPLE to use.
Tip: Don't act PO'd that people are trying to use it.
Fact: Your original reply comment to OP was lazy, abrupt, and in internet/text
perception rude and basically useless.
Tip: Don't waste the time replying or even coding if your end plan is to be
snippy about your personal issues such as lack of fun/time. Or do it strictly
for yourself and not on the market.
Fact: Your app targets UI customization on a very fast and popular growing
platform. Tip: Charge reasonable $ for it if you have to, people will pay if
its worth it (First thing I did was look for a donate option when I downloaded
on market) and considering your in the top 3 of apps offering this you have a
niche, if you don't know how to market it and turn a profit find someone who
does to do it for you and get people to handle support so you can stick to your
coding or whatever your after.
Fact: Your in the TOP 3 of apps in your niche.
Tip: Stop complaining.
People are writing guides using your app and it's features. As you update your
app and change the interface/settings/locations of your features it effects
people who will be finding/using these guides and failing due to outdated info
because of your changes/updates. If you change a location of a setting -
INCLUDE IT in a change log that is available online, then you can refer any
inquiry like this to your change log info.
