Yeah so the battle of blood river event is very bugged. Every option yields the land to the UK, no matter what, and the last option (to play as Natal) autoannexes you as soon as you tag switch, resulting in an end screen. Actually not sure if this is intentional as a temporary measure or not, but it seems like this should happen.
