Content disappears in PageEdit

My content which is seen in Sigil, is not at all seen in PageEdit. It is completely empty.

Has this worked for you in the past, or are you new to Sigil and/or PageEdit?

I'm trying to determine if you're launching PageEdit using the properly configured "Launch External HTML Editor" button from Sigil, or if you're merely double-clicking the PageEdit icon on your desktop while you have an epub open in Sigil. The latter will not work.

If you can post the video somewhere I can access it safely, it might help.

Other than that... things to consider are 3rd-party anti-virus? If you're running something in addition to Windows Defender, you might want to consider exempting PageEdit's (and possibly Sigil's) Program directory from its monitoring.

You could also try checking the the "Disable GPU Acceleration" box in PageEdit's general preferences. Same thing in Sigil's General Settings->Advanced tab. Some cards don't play nice with Qt, and there's really no performance issues if this fixes the problem.

I've not been able to duplicate your issue on two physical, and one virtual, Windows 10 machines, so I'm confident it's not a general PageEdit problem.

Hmmm.... that is exactly what it would look like if PageEdit was opened with an empty epub in Sigil. Are you able to move to any of the other files in your epub? Either with the blue forward/back buttons, or the combox (the one that has Section0001.xhtml in it in your video)?

If not. It would appear that PageEdit doesn't have permission to access Sigil's working temp directory. You haven't changed the location of Sigil's Temp directory in Sigil's preferences have you? General Settings/Advanced tab. The default is a placeholder that looks like . There is typically never a need to change this.

I meant moving to the other files in your epub with PageEdit, in case that wasn't clear.

Based on your video, once PageEdit pops up, there is a pulldown menu on the left side of PageEdit that is set to Section0001.xhtml. Would you please use it to select the second file for PageEdit to load and see if anything shows. The try putting it back.

Next hit the Inspector icon in PageEdit to bring up the Inspector, and set to to show the source code of the page you loaded. You will have to open all of the elements as they are collapsed. Is the source code you see the same as what CodeView shows in Sigil. It should be.

Next in Sigil, open Sigil Preferences to the location that you have set the path to the External Xhtml Editor and provide a screen capture showing that exact path.

Yes. I was going to say that the color/state of the forward and back arrows indicate there are indeed other files to view. Otherwise those buttons would be grey and not blue.

@kevinhendricks: Sample text from video: ನನ್ನ ಕಥೆಯ ಕಥೆ If I recognize it correctly, this is the script used to write the Kannada language, which is the official language in the state of Karnataka. I have standard fonts in PageEdit and this short lettering displays correctly (I hope, because I don't see the nuances):

Your epub did appear in PageEdit but all of the text of one chapter can not be seen. You did not hit the Inspector button on PageEdit when viewing the empty page as requested so we can not tell if the actual code for that page was there or not.

My guess is you are embedding or using a font in the epub on the Sigil side that is missing from PageEdit, causing the issue. But until we can see if the actual code can be seen in PageEdit's Inspector we can not tell if the code itself is there or not. Try changing the font specified in your css code to see if that solves the issue.

I think that this issue is a font issue specific to your machine, as we can not recreate this at all.
