docs: improve documentation for displayName, longName and shortName #471

Document the purpose and usage of displayName, longName, shortName and description within meta. Also updated relevant samples and the description within the schema.

@bkp7 this has been open for too long, and as you resolved the issues and nobody has commented since I'm going to go ahead and merge.
