WORKSHOP TITLE: 'Technology tools to explore historical literacy'

PRELIMINARY AGENDA:

Introduction

• Signs of Literacy Community (Colin Greenstreet [MarineLives/Signs of Literacy])

• Examining literacy of C17th mariners using Amsterdam notarial archives and English High Court of Admiralty depositions (Mark Ponte [Stadsarchief Amsterdam] & Colin Greenstreet [MarineLives/Signs of Literacy])

• PROPOSED: Mariners identified in the Stadsarchief Amsterdam marriage registers [Jelle Van Lottum, Huygens Ing, TBC]. Jelle is responsible for the Dutch Prize Papers online project.
