Here's some details from EmuHawk for Mortal Kombat 3 - Special 56 Peoples (Unl)
[!].nes

------
BEGIN NES rom analysis:
Found iNES header:
pr=128,ch=512,wr=8,vr=0,ba=0,pa=0|1,brd=MAPPER090,sys=
Since this is iNES we can (somewhat) confidently parse PRG/CHR banks to hash.
headerless rom hash: sha1:B8C86200088A0777330B477625E1093A924A11DB
headerless rom hash:  md5:6043F094110C76371B45726FBC632C92
Could not locate game in bizhawk gamedb
Could not locate game in nescartdb
Attempting inference from iNES header
Chose board from iNES heuristics:
pr=128,ch=512,wr=8,vr=0,ba=0,pa=0|1,brd=MAPPER090,sys=
Final game detection results:
pr=128,ch=512,wr=8,vr=0,ba=0,pa=0|1,brd=MAPPER090,sys=
""
Implemented by: class Mapper090
END NES rom analysis
------

My guess would be a strange Mapper. QuickNES doesn't even want to try and load
this ROM.

Mapper 90 and the closely related Mapper 209 and Mapper 211 are not supported
by bizwhacker. There's an implementation class, but it's not finished.

How is this an enhancement request and not a defect report? These games work
fine on a real console.

Because there is no broken code. The required mapper (Mapper 90) simply isn't
implemented yet. As such, your request is to *add* functionality, not to fix
something.
