Like the P-Wing in Mario, something to get you out of a jam or skip a level that is too difficult.

Maybe you collect them when you beat a boss?

Maybe some levels have a one-time collect like a star.

Glowing shield?

Can hit 3 bullets.

Invincible for 10 seconds.

Maybe a power up where if you don't get hit by enough bullets during the power up, you lose the level.

Bomb that changes all the bullet's paths away from you?

Something that freezes all the bullets. Something that makes you a ghost for a bit.
