When you cast Shadow Word: Death on a target with an absorb you end up getting two hits of Shadow Word: Death when using Devour Matter. This can cause some weird interactions where one portion could crit and the other one does not and also do weird things with certain modifiers getting two chances. Interactions like Mastermind or Inescapable Torment both are likely behaving in unintended ways.
