BPSIM: If too late, please ignore... transferTime: redundant and potentially indeterminable? or a gap? #125

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

Assuming we are refering to an Activity (as indicated in BPSIM Parameters
Applicability, page 27):
(a) redundant: wouldn't this be indicated by the in-bound flow's "transfer
time"?... But wait, we don't capture that! Given (b), below, do we have a
specificity gap here?
(b) indeterminable: if one Activity has 2+ plus precedent Activities, which one
(i.e. flows from them) are talking about?

Sorry for the late comments :(

By the way, ProVision (Open Text) solves issue (a) by allowing a Transition
Time for Flows [separate from In-Queue and/or Out-Queue times, which are
Activity specific].
At least I think it solves it. In BPMN, however... are Flows/Sequences assumed
to be instantaneous (i.e. not take any time)? I can't remember 100% sure, is
that what the BPMN specs say?
