Resurrect afrinic? #7619

Description

Is is possible to resurrect afrinic?

Afrinic was removed on purpose a while back (for 2.0 & 2.1).

They stopped replying to queries, and at that time, hadn't published a new public link/api.

It appeared at the time they ceased offering that service. #5366

That was early 2019. Apparently a site/service rearchitecture.

It looks like they started offering via a new service late 2020: https://afrinic.net/whois/rdap

It may be possible to resurrect this.

If the API works, sure.

Looks like its meant for a JSON response. Previous inquiries were sent directly to them with a url link. We don't have the interface to support that currently. A link if we can provide one would be the simple solution for 2.1.
