Massive Battery drain #2194

Hi Tibor et al.,

6.22.2 Pro, F-Droid

Just recognized for the last days, unsure about date of last update of SimpleCalender, that battery drains massively for SimpleCalender. Usage shows about 10% of overall usage, seems not that much at first, but for doing nothing... E.g. Firefox consumes 10% 2.5h of CPU activity, whereas SimpleCalendar uses the same for less than 4 minutes... strange. I know this behaviour from similar bugs of other apps lik3 K9-Mail, battery like for this bug is emptied after max. 8 hours, usuall 36+/-

Not sure if really a SimpleCalendar bug, maybe triggered my DAVX5? Please advise....

Regards, Michael

do you have CalDAV sync enabled or automatic event backups?

michaelof commented 1 year ago

calDAV Sync yes, via DAVx5 (DAVx5 latest F-Droid version) , contacts and calendars in self-hosted Nextcloud. Automatic event backups: Not enabled

Any hints how to further narrow down or investigate this really painful issue? Screenshot-2023-09-28-11-52-30 As you can see, 7% battery for (only) 7 min usage, whereas all other apps are shown with much more usage time per 1% battery. This "behaviour", with the side effect that listed usage % + remaining battery % is much less than the to be expected 100%, seems to be typical for these draining issues. I was affected by a very similar draining issue for K9-Mail, some versions ago, root cause AFAI remember had been some issues around the so called IMAP "PUSH" connections: Email client (K9 here) uses permanent connections to IMAP server, instead of checking for new emails only every x minutes/hours

Absolutely no hints or similar, for this really painful issue?
