Looking at the code it seems that getCachedMedia
picks up the new added files on the sdcard
while GetMediaAsynctask
does not
well updating SD card files can take a while, it is sadly caused by the system. Does it work better in other apps? What Gallery version are you using at all?
I am using 6.14.0. I guess yes it take a while but why do I brefily see them. Even right after the photo has been taken. But I am starting to think it has something to do too with open camera.
This occurs for me on one out of four devices.
On a Poblano VLE 5 Hot Pepper, running 8.1.0 I must reboot after moving files to the SD card.
Strangely, it does NOT happen on my ZTE Maven 812 running 5.1.1 or my two ZTE 557VL devices running 7.1.1
Should add that for me was happening on 9. Now rolled back on 8.0 and does not happen anymore
Is there an option to manually trigger a rescan?
I have also the issue that folders don't show till I
using v6.21.1 (Android 10)
I want to mention that I experience the same/similar issue on my stock ROM SAMSUNG A52s 5G. In my case it's not related to OpenCamera, but to sync with my real camera using an OTG cable. The pictures are synced to sd card using FolderSync app. After syncing, the new pictures will not show up in simple gallery. They do show up when opening them in an explorer app (total commander in my case). And they stay in the gallery, while others not opened still are missing. Also installing a new version of simple gallery make them show up. Hope this helps in finding the issue. And thanks for fixing in advance 😉
Edit: this app helps as workaround: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.house.noranuko.mediarescanner
So i use OpenCamera and have set it up to save photos on sdcard. Now when i take a photo the photo wont appear in Simple Gallery until a reboot.
Few remarks:
