Android 11. Using Simple SMS Messenger v5.4.9 from f-droid.

Simple SMS Messager does not send MMS. It thinks an MMS has sent, as verified by the check mark. However, the other party does not receive the MMS. Truthfully, all the apps I tried from f-droid had this problem.

Simple SMS Messager receives MMS just fine. Regular SMS is not a problem either.

I tried Textra from the play store (installed via aurora) and it sends the MMS and the far end receives it. So there's nothing fundamentally wrong with my service.

I don't think it matters, but I have disabled Google Play Services, the Messaging app, and all the Google apps that came stock with my pone. Simple SMS Messenger behaviour is the same with or without Google Play Services running.

I don't know if it's related, but if I try to edit any of the pictures, a popup is displayed that says: An error occurred: java.lang.SecurityException: UID 10356 does not have permission to content://mms/part/57 [user 0]

As far as I can tell Simple SMS Messenger has the SMS permission, but I don't see a permission for MMS if that's important.

isnt the image too big? The limit seems to be 1.4mb, but it doesnt have to be valid in all cases. Try sending a smaller image if it works

So you're saying this is not a bug? It's a feature? I don't know what to say to that.

I've been using MMS on phones for many years and this is the first time I've encountered this problem. The WORST part is that there's no indication that the message WAS NOT actually sent. The problem isn't just the picture, not even the text that's part of the picture goes.

You just can't expect the user to resize the picture before sending. And you can't expect users to only send small pictures. This program needs to take any size picture/media and send it at an acceptable size. I hate to sound harsh, but anything less is unacceptable in an app that claims to be an MMS messenger. Even a Simple one.

In any case, I've switched to QKSMS. So I'll close this issue.

I didnt say it, improving its handling is on the roadmap. Anyway, it can stay closed as it is a duplicate of #30
