Preview courses from membership sites on main site #470

It would make my professional life sooo much easier if the membership site and the web site could interact. As it is now there are two blogs and I have to create a course both on the member site and the web site. I would love to be able to show snippets of the membership site courses on my web site. As it is now I have to open the membership site to everyone, even the single courses, which means i don't really have control on who has access...

So one blog that can be linked to both the member site and the web site so I dont have to copy and paste every time. Also the category on the blog si hopelessly annoying cos only one category show at a time. it would be of great help if all categories could show on the web site so that people who visit could choose category instead of my choosing for them.

It is a bit strange that the web site and the member site dont communicate better, or have the option of cross referencing.

I'm confused about the blog category thing. That's exactly how the blog works, no?

Here's our blog:

https://simplero.com/blog

It includes all the categories, and people can choose different categories in the sidebar on the right.

Being able to preview courses from your membership sites on your main site makes sense.

Thank you for responding.

Regarding blog category; On main site you have the option to preview the blog, but you can only preview one category. Which means when I write in a different category from the one I have chosen - I have to change category again... It means that only half of the new postings is visible.

I'm still not entirely sure what you're talking about here.

"On main site you have the option to preview the blog" .... what does that mean exactly? I don't see any setting for "Preview the blog" when I go to Website > Configure.

What are you talking about here, exactly?

On the home page of the web page you can scroll down and you have the blog, or you can click on the Blog icon on the meny line.

My site is in norwegian but you should be able to see what I mean if you go on to my site.

I can only show blogpost from one category when you scroll down on my page. If you however click on the blog icon on the meny you can choose category and the latest post is on top. Thats good, but on the home screen I can only access one category which means my latest post won't be there, or I can't feature the moste popular post.

Hope that makes sense.

It would be much better if the actual latest blog post could be shown on home screen regardless of category.

Got it. So you've added a "Recent blog posts" section.

When you go configure that section, notice that the setting for "Blog category" says "(optional)".

Try selecting the blank option in the drop-down. That should do exactly what you want.

Hello!

I think the confusion is because the blog section on your home page is set to show posts from a single category. If you leave it blank, then it will show the most recent post from any category.

Like this: [image: image.png]

I hope that helps, Beth

Thank you!

The option you talk about is not there. I checked categories, and all I can do there is add a category. I checked settings in the blog, but there were no option to put the category in option. I checked both website and member site.

I could not find any place to leave it blank. This was the blog section on my website.

Should I continue this thread in simplero help?
