Language on "This product is for someone else" checkbox is hard to understand #471

Open joyfuldoctor opened 5 years ago

Hello In the Order Form there is always a checkbox question - 'This product is for someone else'. This sounds a bit abrupt, and could be confusing. I want to change the text to - 'Please check this box if the product is for someone else.'

Upvote from me! Even updating the text to what joyfuldoctor just suggested would be an improvement. It reads pretty obtusely right now.

Hm. I hear you. I'm not loving the "please check" language, though. It seems redundant.

"Please click this button: [BUTTON that clearly says what it does]"

"Please check this box if ... [CHECKBOX that clearly says what it does]"

Any other ideas for how we could phrase this?

What's the exact problem we're trying to solve?

That people don't understand what it does?

Or it feels "unfriendly"?

"I'm buying this for someone else"

Or maybe flip it around

"I'm buying this product for myself" (pre-checked)

Other ideas? Let's co-create the best solution.

Exact problem: I think right now it's a combination of it feeling a bit unfriendly AND a bit confusing.

Specific language depends on the business owner/product. For instance, a subscription service might use the language of "gifting?"

Hi all

Thank you for the input.

I agree with Emily that the specific language depends on the business owner/product, so it would be great if we could edit this section of text ourselves?

If not, I think "I'm purchasing this product for someone else" is my favourite option so far.

Best wishes
