8 years ago I like the offer of both, because Aurora does not offer a free tier option at present. I can't see any disadvantage to doing both.

Amazon recently released Amazon Aurora, This offers a 5 times speed boost to MySQL Databases.
Accordingly to Page.ly it has increased their data queries quite well.
