Stream Music TO the phone.. #50

What feature or enhancement would you like to see in Remuco?

Stream music located on my home computer to the phone

Please describe a use case that motivates this feature:

I think it would be amazing if I had access to music that is located on my
home computer via the net.

For example, imagine you are sitting at a cafe and you are connected to a
wifi hotspot which allows you remote access limitless amounts of music on
your computer ( if you have it! :) ) you are no longer limited by the space
on your media player (zune, ipod) etc.

Would this be possible ? technically / legally?

Im thinking the phone could buffer and stream your music to your phone ,
keep a few tracks in cache if you want to skip back and forward quickly,
the music would load while you play your song (depending on what that next
song is in your playlist)

Indeed, that would be amazing.

Technically it should be possible (if your connection is fast enough). I think
the UI
on the phone could be the same as it is now for remote control. Internally a
locally
acting equivalent of
http://code.google.com/p/remuco/source/browse/client/src/remuco/player/Player.ja
va
would have to implemented.

IANAL, but legally it should be no problem as long as you don't provide a public
access to your music.

Unfortunately I won't have time to work on this in the near future. Anyone? I'm
happy
to assist in getting in touch with Remuco development.

For now I would say this feature is out of the scope of Remuco.

After thinking about this feature I would classify this more as a remote file
synchronization issue - actually a totally different type of application.
