MarketEnabler Affecting APNs? #13

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Enter some APNs (before using MarketEnabler)
2. Use MarketEnabler to change to o2 or something else.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I should see the APNs I've entered, but instead see a blank list.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
3.0.1 Beta

Please provide any additional information below.
There's a thread in xda about it, please take a look at it, thank you!

as market enabler fakes the network ID (changing the settings) autodetection of
APN's
doesn't work correctly because you have now your faked Network settings.
If you apply the fix from this thread, of course the apn's are back because
this also
changes the same settings but your market is not faked anymore.
As workaround you can set your provider's APN without the Network / Sim codes
and it
will always be visible to choose.

I set this ticket to invalid because the described behavior is intended but as I
wrote on some xda threads, side effects can happen on all applications that use
network and sim settings.

See issue #11 for more details but as the apn config app relies on all the
values
market enabler changes I can't do anything.

To fix it, the best is if you edit your desired apn and just remove the values
for
MCC and MNC to have it always enabled.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I get it now :D. However, I did set my provider's APN
and
they disappear when I use MarketEnabler. I understand it's not the fault of
MarketEnabler though.

By the way, how can I remove the values of MCC and MNC using the settings? Set
it to "0"?

get your point, it seems that it's not possible to remove the values...
Don't set it to 0 because this could lead to problems.

I just tested it out and they dissapear on my phone too but I use market enabler
almost every day and never had any connection problems and I think they're still
fully functional even if they aren't visible.

You don't need to change the APN config all the time so as long as you don't
have
connection problems, you can ignore this but in a new version I will consider
the
comments from issue #11 and see if that really helps.

If you have connection problems I can reopen this issue?

I added a save and a restore button to v.3.0.2, with this you can save your
original
settings and restore when your finished (values are safed as properties and you
just
have to save once)
