This needs priorty changed to Critical. After the latest update the app is
useless. Gmail, Talk/everything else works.
Tried on several WiFi's and data networks.

I am having the same issue. Google Nexus S
(Note: Chrome to Phone does not currently support Google Apps accounts).
Error: Unable to connect.
This is my first attempt at getting this to work. I have installed the
extension on my browser and attempted turning off/turning on my phone. Also
cleared cache/cookies. Still nothing. Only one Google account on my phone, but
could be conflicting with my work Gmail account that is on my laptop. (don't
know if that has anything to do with it). I was signed into my personal account
when I added the extension, but since the extension is attached to the browser,
it is always available no matter how I am signed in.
Following this, waiting patiently for an update.

Also got an "unable to connect" problem, after a new flash of 2.3.6 ROM.
Got an old phone "HTC Desire", it's work well. Tried to disconnect the a/c in
Desire and setup in s2, but no luck :(

Somehow, I found that while I still have the "Unable to connect" error in the
phone app, sending links from the Chrome browser actually works! The browser
opens on my phone and the website that I send appears.
Do other people see that too?
The only problem is, that I can not change the settings on the phone, for
example, I want my links to appear as a notification, not immediately open the
browser. That can only be done when logging into the app, which doesn't work.

I fixed it!
Did a factory reset of my phone, installed Chrome To Phone and then it asked me
to accept permissions and now it works.
I think the problem is with these permisssions, that do not get asked every
time.

@8, I guess it may not related to the authority as we have accepted the
permission with the second Google account, however when tired too switch back
to the primary account, it still failed....

@9, Maybe I was just lucky.....but the fact that I completely started from
scratch and it asked me for permission, was different than before.

Thanks @11. Worked for me too, maybe this will give the Google team a clue as
to what is causing the issue. And as a bonus, I have a shiny new, better

I hit this problem too but then discovered application specific passwords.
check that 2-step verification is switched on in your Google account settings.
it probably isn't.
switch it on then follow the instructions to create the app password.

I have noticed the same thing. When I click on the Chrome to Phone app, the
"setup" screen comes up. But when I click the "back" button it will go to the
Chrome to Phone home screen where I can see all the items I've sent there. But
initially I get the unable to connect when adding my account (again).

Here's a temporary solution until this app is fixed.
Search Android Market for "Chrome to phone". Install "Chrome to Phone for
China". Yes China!
Very similar app. Read the description very well.
You'll have to install a new extension in your Chrome browser named "chrome to
phone for China". Note: You'll find it in Chinese. Install the extension and
give it permission to sign in to your account. Voila, links are being sent
again!
Note: The extension will show you words like "Sending" and "Sent" in Chinese.
Used Google Translate to figure them out ;)

Error: Unable to connect. I am using a HTC Rezound.
Also using Google's two step verification. Would I need to use an application
specific password for this to work? I've granted access when I added the app
to Chrome on my computer. Its the Android side that will not link up..

APPLICATION SPECIFIC PASSWORDS
Now that you have 2-step verification, some applications won't work with
your regular password. Examples include:
-Smartphones (e.g., Android, iPhone)
-Mail clients that use IMAP/POP (e.g., Outlook Express, Thunderbird or
Apple Mail)
-Chat clients (e.g., Google Talk)
To get these applications working again, you'll need to create an
application-specific password. Click the link below to get started.
https://accounts.google.com/IssuedAuthSubTokens
To learn more about 2-step verification, visit:
http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?answer=180744
SOLUTION. THIS IS BETTER THAN CHANGING PASSWORDS.
ALL THIS DOES IS CREATE AN APPLICATION SPECIFIC PASSWORD AND ALSO MAKES YOUR
GMAIL MORE SECURE.

and it didn't work for me, I tried
1) uninstalling app
2) logging out of chrome to phone on Chrome Browser
3) Changing password on desktop browser
4) restarting phone
5) installing chrome 2 phone
6) still doesn't connect...
Anyone follow a different step? ex: keeping the phone off the whole time while
changing the account password?

man i used to used chrome 2 phone all the time. it was awesome. it has always
reported "unable to connect" ever since the day i first installed it, but send
link still worked most of the time - until earlier this week. tried everything
except for the factory default reset but nothing is fixing it.
the good news is that even though i can't send links or anything to my phone
with chrome to phone, i still have the chrome to phone icon on my phone and in
chrome. that is the real reason i downloaded chrome to phone. the icon. sending
links is just an added feature, but having a little phone icon that doesn't do
anything is priceless. chicks dig it.

I get the error message on my primary Gmail account, not my other Gmail
accounts.
Signed out of chrome to phone on my browser (Google Chrome).
Signed into chrome to phone on my browser - was prompted to allow access during
signing in again, confirmed.
Launched Chrome to Phone on my phone again (GNexus Toro running CM10).
Selected my primary email account and got the error message again.
Hit the Back key and the normal Chrome to Phone home screen appears.
Sent link from browser to phone and it works.
So even though I'm getting the error, the app works, after signing out/signing
in on the browser side.
