TechneRenderer renders objects with "metallic sheen" lighting when they are placed facing east or west.

Here's one with a clean texture:

It actually looks good, but it is wrong. It might be a good idea to have a way to enable this effect on purpose. It really brings home the "this is made from metal" message.
