When placing an Advanced Machine Block below the metal forge and doing an action, it will consume the block. When placing a regular diamond block there afterwards, it will drop the Advanced Machine Block, making the Metal Forge basically operate without diamond blocks.

Do an action with the Metal Forge
Place a diamond block below it
