Run directly: "please start this homebrew via title-override"
Search "switch home-brew title-override": nothing relevant
Open news app: all old news back in 2018
Check https://gbatemp.net/threads/switchnews.577602/ everyone just gets how to use it directly.

I must be missing something really obvious, could anyway point it out please?

Sorry for that late reply. Title override is when you hold R while starting any game in atmosphere based CFW's. It "overrides the title you click on with homebrewmenu" to give full ram access and allow more browser features (like html5 video support)

There is a "settings" button where you can choose the order of the news. The default is new to old so i dont really know whats going on on your switch
