Paperboy (USA) — Second player can't control (firmware 6.6 specific) #159

In Paperboy (USA), specifically on firmware 6.6, the second player can't control. After spawning, they will immediately veer off to the left, as if the controller is jammed holding left or diagonal up+left or something, not 100% sure of which. The player can still throw newspaper by pressing A or B, but this is fruitless as they can only play for mere moments before crashing, as they can't dodge anything, and therefore are guaranteed to lose a life in seconds.

I have not tested non-USA regions for this bug.

This is reproducible consistently by loading in the rom on firmware 6.6. I was not able to reproduce this by loading in the rom on 6.5. I do not own the original cartridge and as such can't try that. However, I do own an EverDrive N8 Pro (currently running firmware 2.14), and can reproduce the exact same behavior using that instead of the jailbreak.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Have two controllers plugged in (honestly not sure if this is 100% necessary)
  2. Boot up the Nt mini Noir on firmware 6.6
  3. Launch Paperboy (USA)
  4. Select 2 Player
  5. As first player, die immediately or just play normally such that player 2 eventually takes control
  6. Spawn in as player 2
  7. Player 2 has no and/or very limited and broken controls

Dug the original cart out works fine with the new 1.3 firmware. Using original controller for player 2.
