PC permanently freezes when using APT with dx11 or dx12 #1260

When i play POE in fullscreen windowed mode with dx11 or dx12 and awakened poe trade is ON, after some time (from 10 min to infinite)my PC freezes and nothing can help exept reseting it with the reset button. I could not find any correlation between my actions and this bug. It happens randomly in HO and in Maps. But it never happens when i use Vulkan.

If APT is OFF, PC never freezes on dx11 and dx12.

My PC conf: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6-Core Processor AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT (GPU driver is up to date) 16 gb RAM Win 11

Is there any way to play with dx12 + fullscreen windowed with APT on and guarantee that there will be no freezes of my PC? Vulkan is not a good option because FPS are much lower than when i use dx12.

Software like APT or POE can't cause full on freezes of the entire PC like that. Bad hardware or bad drivers can. My guess would be graphics driver/freesync issue, and second guess a slightly bad GPU in your case. See for example: https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDHelp/comments/16xpue1/2393_driver_freezing_my_pc_windows_10/ https://www.reddit.com/r/AMDHelp/comments/1709ehh/windows_11_randomly_freezing_unresponsive_on_all/ APT is using electron, that is using a hardware accelerated web browser. So could be that issue with freesync.

Verify again that there really isn't a newer graphics driver you could use, And if not, try an older driver. Try disabling freesync if you have that active on your monitor.

If you suspect hardware error, use OCCT and/or furmark to stress-test (much higher load than POE) and detect rare issues. OCCT GPU or furmark for GPU stress testing. OCCT small FFT for CPU core stability. OCCT large FFT for RAM + CPU uncore test.

If nothing helps, try an overclocking forum or r/AMDHelp And try other games, chrome based browsers, stress tests and other combinations of software.

APT indeed can't cause this. But it's a fullscreen always-on-top app that not everyone always accounts for. And yeah, there were one bugged version of AMD driver ~1.5 years ago.
