Can't change sass_options cache_location

I'm trying to change the sass cache_location to /tmp/sass. I've tried setting

sass_options = {cache_location => '/tmp/sass-cache'}

in sites/all/themes/mytheme/config.rb, but nothing seems to happen. Any clues? Thanks, Aaron

This would be an issues with compass... and I have not tried this, nor seen this before... sorry
