Notification settings #122

As it stands their is no way to adjust the notifications you get

on a website that is growing and becoming super active, users wish to be able to control what kind of notifications they get from the drop down box (The update down menu thingy)

Simply, We'd like to see a way to decide what it notify you of, I.E Someone has liked your photo, Someone has commented on your feed, etc.

poeticjustice commented 7 years ago

do you mean as admin, or as a member?

SpiritWolfie commented 7 years ago

Strictly talking for members, on the drop notification stuff that you click and tells you "someone liked your post etc) that can get insanely cluttery when theirs a ton of activity going on. Their needs to be a way for users to turn off what they see notices for, I.E Likes, liked your photo etc.

44 and #112 may be related to this. IMHO, the entire notifications/email-notifications needs to be redesigned. The potential for a gazillion (okay, okay - maybe only a bazillion) emails and notifications travelling around the site increases exponentially as you increase members and #Plugins.

I read over them, and no, this is unrelated to both of those as far as I can tell

if you are using the new theme look in the upper right area you will see a "bell" if you click that it tells you what kind of updates you have

As it stands Users and admins/staff have no real way to adjust this, Users honestly should have a ability to adjust if they care to see a notice they got I.E "like, or a photo like etc" our activity has skyrocketted the last few days with a ton of new members from other sites that are jumping ship....

So that bell section is just becoming loaded with stuff and its driving people batty...

Admins should be able to have the option to define how much it spits out by default etc...

Be great if you can make a video or screenshots, because im not following :S

SpiritWolfie commented 7 years ago

image It'd be nice to opt out of some of these notification types for users

The bell with the 2 next to it, users want to be able to control what kind of notices show up there.

poeticjustice commented 7 years ago

Ohhhhhhhhh I think I get you now.

The default notifications, are email notifications. So regardless of default email notifications, which can be controlled.

You want the ability to control actual notifications in the notifications section.

Because the dont reflect each other.

If im right in following, then I 100% agree with you.

example Facebook

You have "On Facebook" and "email"

On Facebook You'll see every notification on Facebook, but you can turn off notifications about specific posts as you view them.

and email

To turn off a specific email notification, just click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email. WHAT YOU'LL RECEIVE 1- All notifications, except the ones you unsubscribe from 1- Important notifications about you or activity you've missed 1- Only notifications about your account, security and privacy
