Particular uses include video messages with screen cast of problems or solutions - especially explanations, or status reports. Like sending video clips in skype.com or slack.com or loom.com
This is a super valuable idea. There is a substantial portion of well-educated youth that uses voice messages to communicate rather than typed messages. The same apparently holds for "emerging markets" where people who can't read/write do communicate with a smartphone. Having audio/video integration could serve many.
Note: I could not find back the articles I read in this regard. I did not find evidence strongly pointing in the other direction. I did find that illiterate use was based on rote learning (from a limited study). If anyone knows how to translate this into sensational headlines, perhaps we can verify bias in these articles :-)
Specifically, everywhere there currently is a camera icon allowing one to contribute a photo, allow them alternatively to create a video message -- or a sound message.
