We second this. It's become an issue to the point where our clients stopped actively promoting the customer portal to avoid having the customers remove payment methods or the auto pay functionality. Especially since the contract the customers signed require an active payment method and monthly auto pay via credit card.
Some customers do not want to allow their customers the ability to remove payment methods or turn off autopay via the customer portal.
There should be an option on the settings page of the customer portal that allows you to toggle or choose whether or not you want to give the customer the ability to remove payment methods and turn off autopay.
