If you use the .mtg command and try to fetch any card that has not had a reprint since the online set Vintage Masters it will not fetch the card. It also will not give a "No cards found" warning, it just will not respond.
The only way we have found to get around this is using .mtg e:
We have yet to find any other sets like this. We have tested the other online sets as well, it appears to be because of how magiccards.info handles them versus vintage masters (The older MTGO sets are just pushed to the bottom of the list versus being in the correct order).
