Sophrinix / TryRuby

Try Ruby is a interactive shell that quickly and whimsically teaches the Ruby programming language. Originally _why's idea, it has been recreated from the ground up by Rubyists who have a passion for Ruby and for teaching their fellow (wo)man how to program.

Site is slow #153

I was just trying to show Try Ruby to some beginners and it's responding really slow. Can you give it a kick?

ghost commented 13 years ago

I have the same issue. About 5 seconds after I hit enter before I get a result.

mobmad commented 13 years ago

+1. For some this is the first introduction to Ruby, and they should not get a slow response in their first hands on experience.

mkkwon commented 13 years ago

I think it is slow too, but I am on a Windows 7 box, running Chrome. Perhaps Windows 7's slowness is affecting the site?

cayblood commented 13 years ago

Also slow for me. This is server-related, not client.

mralexcheek commented 13 years ago

I am having the same experience, 2-5 seconds wait after I press enter. Mac OSX 10.6, Chrome 14.0

thanks for the tool though, I was linked through from Rails for Zombies

cayblood commented 13 years ago

This is much faster now that codeschool has taken over the site.

krisbulman commented 12 years ago

bah, just tried this out.. 15 mins to do the first set of tuts is more like an hour due to the site responding so slowly (on any browser).

micheledallatorre commented 11 years ago

Same here, took me more than 30mins and I'm at 50%! Need to reload the tab every 20seconds or it gets stuck. :(

ghost commented 10 years ago

still slow on the first tutorial in tryruby.org

ashes999 commented 10 years ago

+1 also still slow. Typing 1/0 froze it for more than 10 seconds.

christophervigliotti commented 10 years ago

slow for me as well...having to refresh the site every 1-2 pages

ValerieAnne563 commented 9 years ago

Still slow 2015 :-1:

tryrubyisslow commented 7 years ago

6 years later, this site is still incredibly slow. What a turn off. I dread hitting enter because there's a 50% chance I'm stuck and will have to refresh. (restarting the challenge)
